For our Parish & Town Councils
It was great to be invited by GAPTC (the Gloucestershire Association of Parish and Town Councils) to collaborate with other Community Energy groups in Gloucestershire and to participate in an online workshop for Parish and Town councils. Hopefully, the start of many conversations!
The presentation includes examples of Community Energy projects in the Forest of Dean and features our film about the Sling Community Hub. It outlines the basics and benefits of a typical rooftop-solar community energy project, discusses the legal question about leasing a council-owned roof, and links to resources and sources of grant funding.
Since the workshop, the recently published Local Power Plan (from GB Energy and DESNZ) has promised increased support and significant investment for community-energy projects across the UK. This could help realise our ambition in the Forest of Dean District to increase the number of Parish and Town Council-owned properties benefiting from renewable energy.
We have adapted the original GAPTC presentation and tailored it specifically for Parish and Town Councils here in the Forest of Dean District. The presentation is available as a PDF. Do let your local Parish and Town Councillors know!
If your Parish or Town Council would like a copy of the PDF, or an online or in-person meeting to go through the presentation and answer questions that arise, please contact us.
