Wooolaston Carnival and Mitcheldean Festival

We had a brilliant day at the Woolaston Carnival!

It was full of fun activites, dog show, tug-of-war, stalls, tea & cake, motor parade and some fantastic live music! In one of our villages with no mains gas, and with a thriving community hall, it was good to talk about the potential for heat-pumps, solar, and batteries.

The St Briavel's wind turbine was turning in the distance, a great example of a project that has supported the local community, for example by donating £8,000 to buy the stock for the community owned village shop, and £2,000 to the school in Woolaston for equipment.

Five new members signed-up for £1 - including our first two members from Woolaston!

Mitcheldean Festival was a lovely event and we were lucky to be next to the Canopy Creative arts tent

It was great to be at Mitchedean and see for ourselves the solar panels on the Mitcheldean Community Centre. You can read all about the refurbishment of the hall to make it as sustainable as possible here.

There was a whole afternoon of entertainment including local performers and morris dancers. We signed up three new members including one couple who had been to the People's Emergency Briefing film in Longhope the night before.
