Tidenham Parish Workshop

A huge vote of thanks to Amy and Emily from Centre for Sustainable Energy as the sun sets on the last of our three Future Energy Landscapes workshops in the Forest of Dean district.

It was an interactive workshop for local people to explore community energy for the future in Tidenham parish (including Sedbury, Beachley, Tutshill, Woodcroft and surrounding hamlets).

Energy prices have soared in recent years, and people are struggling to keep their homes warm in winter, and cool in summer. We need to decide as communities, and as a country, how to meet our future energy generation needs. Locally owned renewables, such as wind and solar, can be an important part of the solution. But new solar farms and wind turbines can also cause division, particularly if they are not sensitively placed or do not benefit those living nearby.

Local people know their area and are best placed to shape solutions that work for everyone. That's why we invited Tidenham parish residents to join a discussion about the role community-owned renewables could play in the future energy generation for the parish.

It was a very hot evening but there was a good turnout and lots of engagement! A lovely last session working with Forest of Dean District Council and Forest of Dean Climate Action Partnership (FODCAP) on this project.
