At Chepstow Leisure Centre
The final public engagement event of the Future Energy Landscapes project was a stall at Chepstow Leisure Centre, just over the border from Tidenham Parish, and it went well.
"We spoke to people, had some very engaging conversations, and lots of positivity for wind turbines, solar farms, community ownership, and renewables in general. We also spoke to some of the children (primary school age) who wanted to chat about wind turbines and solar with us. Overwhelmingly positive views from people both sides of the river Wye. There were some caveats, for example, one person was all for it as long as it didn’t impact on birds and their migratory paths."
Piers from FoDCAP also gave advice to someone from Monmouthshire who wanted to plant a woodland on his fields; where to get support for the scheme and free trees! People took our coffee coasters on their way to yoga classes, weights classes, the gym, or picking up children from their swimming lessons.
The next step is for all the information to be drawn together in the final report for Tidenham Parish.
